Eco Committee
- We have half termly meetings to discuss ways in which our school can help the environment. In our meetings we think of things we can do around the school to reduce waste, save energy and make pupils and teachers aware of environmental issues.
- All of our classrooms and offices have recycling bins for waste paper, card and plastic.
- We recycle our fruit waste from break time.
- We have signs above all the bins reminding children and teachers to put the correct waste in them.
- We also have signs above the light switches as a reminder to turn them off when nobody is in the room. We monitor how much electricity we use every week and try to reduce it.
- We have planted flowers in tyres around our school.
- We try hard to attract birds and wildlife to our school by feeding the birds every day.
- We take part in competitions and events related to Eco issues.
- We have ‘Eco Spies’ who go around each classroom at lunch time to check lights, computers and smartboards are turned off, the winning classroom each week gets to keep our Eco mascot 'Walter the Whale'.
