Mrs O'Connor is our class teacher, Miss Dawe and Mrs Matthews are our learning support assistants.
We have lots of fun learning in Year 2 and enjoy planning our lessons during 'Busy Bee' planning time where we share our 'pupil voice'. We have an open door policy for you to ask us any questions or discuss any concerns you may have. The children's well-being is very important to us!
Always remember to stay safe online! Here are some things to remember.
We encourage the children to eat a healthy snack at break time. Fruit can be purchased from school for 25p per day or £1.25 per week. Children can also bring their own fruit from home.
Spelling will be tested fortnightly on Monday. It is vitally important you practise your child's spellings every day. Children with full marks will be awarded a certificate to celebrate their success.
The children will be given a reading book and key words to practise with you at home. This can be changed as often as you like. Please read with your child and practise their key words every day.
Please wear your PE kit to school every Monday. We are doing PE outside weather permitting.
Context for Learning
Long, Long Ago - Transport
Our context for Autumn Term 1 is 'Long, Long Ago - Transport'. We are going to be learning about various modes of transport and looking at how transport has changed over time. Our role play area is a Space Station/Gorsaf Gofod.
Proud to be Welsh
Our context for Spring Term 1 is 'Proud to be Welsh'. We are going to be learning about Pentwyn and Pendine and comparing similarities and differences between the two places. We will be going on a walk around Pentwyn and recording what buildings we can see. We can't wait to plan and create an iMovie all about Pentwyn. We will be studying the artist Gayle Rogers who is well known for her art work of famous Welsh landmarks. Our role play area for this half term is 'Tea by the Sea/Tê ar lan y môr' which is Mrs Gray-Thomas' Mum's cafe in Pendine.
Our context for Spring 2 is 'Tomorrow's World'. We are going to learn about electricity and renewable energy. The children will learn about being sustainable. We will read various 'Lighthouse Keeper's Lunch' stories and learn about the function of a lighthouse. The children will then have the change to design, make and evaluate their own lighthouse using junk modelling and paper mache.
