Health and Wellbeing

At Bryn Celyn Primary, our vision is to develop a vibrant and inclusive learning community where every child's health and wellbeing is prioritised, empowering them to grow into confident, resilient, and compassionate individuals. Our commitment to fostering a holistic approach to health and wellbeing is deeply rooted in the Curriculum for Wales purposes, values, culture, and the Well-being of Future Generations Act (WFGA).

Key Pillars of Our Vision:

1. Physical Health:

   - We promote active living and healthy eating habits, ensuring that our pupils have access to nutritious meals and opportunities for physical activity.

   - We provide a safe and stimulating environment that encourages outdoor play, exercise, and sports.

2. Mental Health:

   - We prioritise mental health awareness and education, creating a stigma-free environment where pupils and staff can openly discuss their feelings and seek support.

   - We offer support services and mindfulness  to help pupils develop emotional resilience and coping skills.

3. Social Wellbeing:

   - We foster a sense of belonging and inclusivity, celebrating diversity and promoting empathy and respect among pupils.

   - We encourage peer support and mentorship programs to develop positive relationships and reduce bullying.

4. Academic Excellence:

   - We recognize the strong link between academic achievement and wellbeing. Our curriculum is designed to engage pupils' interests, inspire curiosity, and nurture a love for learning.

   - We offer a range of extracurricular activities that promote teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving skills.

5. Community Engagement:

   - We actively involve parents, carers and the wider community in our efforts to support the health and wellbeing of our pupils.

   - We collaborate with local organizations and healthcare providers to enhance our school's resources and services.

6. Environmental Responsibility:

   - We teach our pupils to appreciate the natural beauty of Wales and to care for the environment.

   - We strive to create a sustainable and eco-friendly school, reducing waste and promoting environmental education.

7. Wellbeing in the Curriculum:

   - We integrate health and wellbeing into our curriculum, ensuring that pupils develop essential life skills such as communication, problem-solving, and emotional intelligence.

   - We regularly assess and adapt our approach to best meet the evolving needs of our pupils.

Measuring Success:

- We track and measure our progress through a comprehensive set of indicators aligned with the WFGA, ensuring that we contribute to the well-being goals of the local community and future generations.

- We regularly seek feedback from pupils, parents, and staff to make informed improvements to our health and wellbeing initiatives.

By embracing this vision, Bryn Celyn Primary aims to empower our pupils to thrive academically, emotionally, and socially while instilling in them a strong sense of responsibility towards their own wellbeing and the wellbeing of the wider community, in accordance with the principles of the Well-being of Future Generations Act. Together, we will create a brighter and healthier future for all.
